Member Support

You might have already read that one of the original aims of the Club was to ‘foster the spirit of helpfulness’ and, as your committee, we are very much invested in that principle.

We have taken great care to provide relevant and useful advice and information on a range of topics covering general and physical welfare, financial welfare and much more.

Some of the information given is purely factual. For example, contact details of Barclays’ departments and charitable organisations which we hope can provide answers in most circumstances. The full list of subjects can be found on the Dropdown List, which can be found by clicking in the top right hand corner.

However, we realise that there may be occasions when more personal advice or assistance is required for non-specific queries or problems. As our membership is spread widely across the UK it may not always be possible for local help to be offered but electronic communications will enable us to do our best to provide a good level of support. Use Welfare on the Contact Us page to send your request to the Committee.

Financial Welfare

The Barclays International Pensioners Club Benevolent Fund

Should you know someone who was an employee of either Barclays Bank DCO or International, home or abroad, who might be struggling financially, say, to effect a much needed repair, please use the Contact Us [hyperlink] page to get in touch with the Fund Trustees.

The Fund is a registered charity. Over the years, in addition to making grants to people living in the UK and overseas, the Fund has made appeals to Club members to help former staff in Zimbabwe (extreme cost of living crisis), Sierra Leone (Ebola cases and its effect on ex staff) and both the Eastern Caribbean and the Bahamas (devastation caused by major hurricanes in both areas). It is pleasing to report that Club members responded speedily and generously.

The Bank Workers Charity

The Bank Workers Charity exists to help bank employees, both past and present, across the UK. This includes you as a retired Barclays employee, your partner and any dependent children. They do this by providing advice, information, expert support and, in some cases, financial help. Their team of trained client advisers and visiting caseworkers work alongside a range of partners to provide you with specialist support. They’re also independent of the banks and completely confidential.

Barclays Alfred Foster Charitable Settlement

A Barclays charitable trust that helps employees, past and present, who find themselves in need. The charitable trust also assists children of past and present Barclays employees who wish to enter further education. Quote U0285 when enquiring.

Things to do on my demise

On your demise, there is a lot to organise for those you leave behind. Knowing where your key documents, access codes for various websites, valuables etc may be found could save them time.

Here is a document which might help you get your matters in order if you don’t already have something in place.
